Baby formula may be crazy expensive, but it's a necessity so many families cannot live without. Thankfully, new shipments of baby formula have finally started making their way to the United States, and formula factories have fired up operations again, but if your family's need for baby formula is immediate, free help is available to you tomorrow.

Free Baby Formula Giveaway in Rockford Friday, May 27, 2022

According to WREX, Illinois State Representative Maurice West will be teaming up with UW Health Swedish American for a free baby formula giveaway this Friday, (May 27) in the parking lot of the Discovery Center Museum in Rockford.

Families do not need to fill out any paperwork or qualify to receive help, they simply just need to have a baby to feed and show up when the event begins at 10 a.m.

State Rep. West recently told WREX;

Right now, we have families that are suffering because they can’t find formula and give their babies the nutrition they need to be healthy and strong. Through this partnership, I hope to help our families and make sure our youngest community members don’t go to bed hungry.

Enfamil, EnfamilAR, GentleEase, and Nutrmigen formulas will be handed out at tomorrow's event until 2 p.m., or supplies last, whichever comes first.

Other Ways to Get Free Baby Formula

If you can't make it to tomorrow's giveaway at the Discovery Center, but desperately need help finding formula for your baby, there are a couple of other options to check out:

  • Call your pediatrician to see if they have any sample containers available.
  • Visit local food pantries and WIC offices
  • Check the supply at smaller stores or drug stores
  • Consider switching to off brand formulas

Parents, until the supply of baby formulas gets back on track just remember, making your own baby formula at home is highly discouraged by health officials because it's not safe for your baby. Just breathe and keep telling yourself this too shall pass.
