Gas Is Under 2 Bucks A Gallon In The Rockford Area

Oil prices tanked earlier this week, causing a major drop in prices at the pump.

Murphy USA in Belvidere is selling gas at $1.86 a gallon according to GasBuddy. That is the lowest gas price in the entire state. Actually, 7 of the 10 lowest gas prices in Illinois are in Rockford or the surrounding area.

Circle K on Logan Avenue is at $1.87, Casey's on Beloit Road is at $1.88 and yes, both are in Belvidere.

Sam's Club in Rockford is $1.89, and Not to be undone, Costco in Loves Park is at $1.89.

I can't remember the last time gas was so cheap. In 2016, the national average for a gallon of gas was $2.14. There's a very good chance it dipped below $2 in the Rockford area at that time.

If you need gas and live in the Rockford area, today is the day to fill up. If you already got gas this week, you should probably consider topping off.
