Illinois Set A New Gas Record This Week And Nobody Is Celebrating It
As divided as we are in America we can all agree on one thing, gas prices suck. There are words or phrases I could have used to describe the cost of fuel but I'll keep them to myself.
I'll be honest, I felt like someone should have taken me on a date after I paid $4.57 a gallon today.
There are a number of reasons gas is high everywhere in America, especially in Illinois, and it's not all POTUS-related like you see on social media comments every seven seconds. In fact, the Association For Convenience & Fuel Retailing explains how politicians have little direct influence on the cost of gas at the pump. Policies and legislation should blame more so than one specific person.
Can you guess that last time gas prices spiked substantially?
In 2012, the national average of gas per gallon was $4.68. Fast forward to the last month or so and we saw prices very close to that number. Shockingly, Illinois isn't actually the land of the highest gas prices. The honor goes to California and Pennsylvania, according to WJPF.
I can't be the only person wondering when the prices are going to slow down and dip a little bit, right?
Gas price complaints on social media are like a broken record, everyone is griping about it over, and over, and over. That's not the only broken record though.
Illinois Has A Record-Breaking Year in 2022
We're not even halfway through the year and a new record has taken place in Illinois. On Friday the 13th, some frightening news was released. Fuel prices in the state have shattered a record, according to WJPF.
Illinois fuel prices are at their highest mark ever with gas prices averaging $4.82 per gallon throughout the state.
In the words of Vanilla Ice, "Will it ever stop? Yo, I don't know."
