Brand new Transportation Security Administration (TSA) procedures at the Chicago Rockford International Airport could cause some delay before your next flight out of town.

According to MyStateline.com, the TSA says the new screening procedures were "rolled out gradually over the past several weeks."

The new procedures are as follows:

  • All electronic devices larger than a cell phone must be placed in a bin for x-ray screening.
  • Those electronic items must be placed in the bin alone, with nothing on top or bottom of the item.
  • Anything with 3.4 ounces of liquid, gel or aerosol must also be placed in a bin.

The delays will mostly occur early on as TSA officers learn the new procedures.

If you fly often out of Rockford, your best option is to apply for a TSA pre-check.
