Anry Fuentes told Today, "It was the best moment of my life."

Fuentes is now the first transgender cheerleader at Denair High School in California.

Fuentes, 18, grew up as a boy named Henry but along the way something didn't feel right.

Fuentes announced that he was gay, yet that didn't quite feel right either.

Fuentes told People Magazine, "I knew that I didn't feel like most boys do," she says. "My freshman year I came out as gay. I didn't even know what gay was. Going into my junior year, I started doing research. I was like, 'Am I really gay?' And I was like, 'No, I'm transgender.' "

Just like every other high school student, Anry Fuentes had goals. One of which was to be on the cheerleading team.

According to the Daily Beast "Fellow students helped Fuentes raise the $600 for a cheerleading uniform. School administrators claim—other than that little bit of help funding the uni—that Fuentes is being treated no differently than any other student."

Fuentes explains her transformation best through her Instagram page, "Sometimes the things we can't change end up changing us."

Congrats Anry!
