This week I almost experienced the procrastinating parent's worst nightmare. I kept putting off buying my youngest child's Halloween costume because I believed it would not be in demand. But, apparently, it was.

THE DISAPPEARING DISNEY PRINCESS COSTUME DILEMMA

Four different stores yielded the same results, nothing.

First, I went to Party City, everything Halloween-related was clearly picked through. The next stop, Spirit Halloween. Same result.

My last-ditch efforts were Target and Walmart, which only left me sitting in my car searching stores outside of Rockford as a final act of desperation.

That's when I found a store in Rockford that I was certain wasn't even a real thing.

My google search led me to this Halloween Express in Rockford which was confusing because I had no idea it existed. Usually, these pop-up Halloween stores are front-and-center and easy to find.

This specific store was hidden but not by choice, it's hidden in the middle of construction on East State Street, just west of Perryville Road. It's in the same strip mall as Prime Time Audio Video.

Not only was this Halloween Express seemingly fully stocked, but they also had 3 of 4 variations of the exact costume I had been desperately searching for.

If you're still searching for a costume idea, props, decorations, makeup, or whatever else, this is your Halloween saving grace.

You can find Halloween Express at  6909 E. State Street.

(Note: this is not an ad. It truly got me out of a big self-induced problem.)
