Did you know brownies were invented in Illinois?

I'm not going to lie. I have a sweet tooth. I love tasty treats. You name it, cookies, cake, ice cream, candy, and so much more. Nothing beats the good old fashion brownie.

My favorite is a blonde brownie. That's basically a chocolate cookie in brownie form. They are so good. The best part, they are pretty easy to make. If I'm going store-bought then it's Cosmic brownies.

In my effort to learn something new every day, I just discovered that the brownie was invented in Illinois. This is just a few days removed from finding out the Twinkie was created in Illinois too. If you missed that fact, HERE.

Well, here's the deal with the brownie thanks to timeout.com,

"The story traces its roots back to 1893 at the historic Palmer House Hotel in the heart of the Loop. As the story goes, Bertha Palmer (wife of hotel owner Potter Palmer) asked the kitchen crew to whip up a portable dessert that could be served at the Columbian Exposition World's Fair."

I really think our state needs to do a much better job promoting things like this. Brownies are a very popular treat. I think a brownie museum and festival would be a huge hit. Especially, in a state with legalized recreational marijuana.

I'm just curious about what other things that have roots in Illinois that I don't know about.

Do you like brownies? If so, what's your favorite?
