If you're really not interested in online dating, a recent study will support your feelings to hold off.

Single and on Facebook? You see ads for online dating at least a hundred times a week. No exaggeration. Coffee meets bagel? Zoosk? They are always taking turns filling up the ad space on the right hand side of my Facebook page and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one.

Those ads, paired with all the stories you've heard about relationships that started via apps and websites might make you think you have to date through your phone or computer in order to find someone.

But, according to a recent study, there's still a pretty high chance that you can meet someone in real life!

Mic released a study this month using Google Consumer Surveys, asking 18-34 year olds how they met their current significant other, and online dating didn't even reach the top three.

Turns out, your love future might be in the hands of your friends.

  1. Through common friends (38.6%)
  2. Out in a social setting (22.3%)
  3. Through work (17.9%)
  4. Online dating websites or apps (9.4%)
  5. Social media (i.e. Facebook or Twitter) (5.8%)

So... you can still search for love online, but you might want to start with your best friend's Facebook page.
