This Halloween, forget the wig. Add colors in your hair with hair chalk.

For the past month or so, I wanted to put bright colors in my hair. I've only dyed my hair three times in my life and all of those were conventional dyes, but you know weird stuff happens in life that makes you want blue hair.

Originally I wanted teal, but I couldn't find any, so I settled with blue... cubbie blue (Go Cubs!).

Whether you want to dye your hair to celebrate the Cubs being part of the MLB play-offs, because you're having your fourth quarter-life crisis, or because you're practicing your Halloween look, you might want to try hair chalk.

A few notes:

  • I have pretty dark hair, so it took a LOT of the chalk to make one stripe (thanks Melissa & Lori for your patience).
  • The next morning you could still see the color, but it was definitely faded.
  • If you want more than a few stripes, you will most likely need more than one container of chalk.

I would absolutely try this again, but I might find a more water based hair spray to use instead of the ones we were playing around with.

Also, if you're going to do this for a Halloween party, I would suggest doing it right before you're dressed and ready to go, not too far in advance.

Here's what it looked like when we were done!
