Would you believe me if I told you that the state of Illinois might owe you money?

Yep, it's true.

Thanks to the state's ICash program, over $303 million has already been returned to Illinois residents.  You might've gotten a check in the mail recently—if not, here's how you can see if you're eligible.

ICash is a giant lost-and-found for your forgotten funds.  Like safe deposit boxes nobody claimed, old bank accounts you forgot about, unpaid life insurance policies, etc.  Things you didn't even know you had coming!

"The State Treasurer is holding more than 5 billion dollars in unclaimed funds for Illinoisans. The State holds these lost funds until they are claimed by either the original owner or their heirs. Property is returned at no cost with the proper identification."

It takes about a minute to search up your name on the ICash website and see if you're still waiting a payday.  I did it and got a few bucks, but my coworker also did it and got multiple checks in the mail!  Could be you.

The state Treasurer even recommends you check twice a year, just in case.  Who doesn't love unexpected money?!

All you gotta do is visit the ICash website to get started.  Instantly, it'll show if you have any unclaimed property.  If you do, congrats!  If you don't, check again in a few months.  You never know what you're missing.
