Illinois BBQ Joint Makes ‘Best in America’ List
Most of America thinks of Illinois as a pizza and hot dogs state but maybe that should all change.
It's probably easier for the rest of the US because when you factor in some of the other standout foods we have in the state folks might get a bit jealous.
Like I'm sure peeps in Kansas City, Memphis, and Texas are probably not happy to see Illinois starting to encroach on their BBQ game.
It's not an accident either. Some of the finest barbecue foods I have ever had are inside the Land of Lincoln.
So I guess I shouldn't be surprised to see one of the great BBQ joints we have to offer in Illinois among the best restaurants in America.
LoveFood's "Best Barbecue Restaurants" list says we all need to get to Smoque BBQ in Chicago.
Your new favorite barbecue restaurant, Smoque BBQ is known for incredible, Texas-style brisket that’s so fatty and flavorsome it doesn’t need any sauces. However, they're so good, you’ll want to use them anyway and buy a couple of bottles to take home too. Get a brisket platter or brisket sandwich with spicy slaw, baked mac ‘n’ cheese and a cornbread muffin, they're the favorites.
Nearly 4800 reviews on Yelp rank Smoque BBQ a staggering 4.4 out of 5 overall.
Selena S. says "There's a reason this place has the reviews that it does and the line out the door" adding the "food was incredible" and "the absolute favorite bbq" they have ever had.
I had a tough time finding anything negative about the place. Someone mentioned waiting too long for the food but a manager ended up giving that person a $10 gift card as an apology.
Smoque BBQ has two locations, 3800 North Pulaski Road Suite 2 and 125 South Clark Street Suite 100-10.
For us in the Rockford area, the closest to home is the Pulaski Smoque BBQ. If you end up at this restaurant let me know I want to hear about your experience.
