Wrigley's gum has been around forever, but it's kind of weird it was chosen to define us. It was founded way back in 1891, in Chicago, too! That's really cool history, so in a way it does make sense that we'd rally behind a true Illinois product started right here in the Windy City.
Wrigley isn't just gum, though. We all know that. It's an iconic name of Chicago sports, too. The company actually bought the name rights to the Cubs' ballpark in 1927, and Wrigley Field has been a landmark and tourist attraction ever since. It draws hundreds of thousands of people every year.
