Did you know the most beloved brand in Illinois isn't deep-dish pizza, Portillo's, or Garrett's Popcorn?  Nope, totally wrong.

According to a new survey by MarketBeat, you might be surprised what Illinoisans chose as the product that resonates with state pride the most.  Each state ended up with a totally different kind of product, from food to apparel.

More than 3,000 people across the country were surveyed, and Illinois chose gum. GUM.  LIKE, WHAT?  I'M SORRY?

Wrigley's gum has been around forever, but it's kind of weird it was chosen to define us.  It was founded way back in 1891, in Chicago, too!  That's really cool history, so in a way it does make sense that we'd rally behind a true Illinois product started right here in the Windy City.

Wrigley isn't just gum, though.  We all know that.  It's an iconic name of Chicago sports, too.  The company actually bought the name rights to the Cubs' ballpark in 1927, and Wrigley Field has been a landmark and tourist attraction ever since.  It draws hundreds of thousands of people every year.

Maybe that's where the real pride comes into play... when you think of summer, sports family outings, and tailgating, you think Wrigley Field (not gum, obviously).  Still, I would've totally guessed like Lou Malnati's, Chicago Bears, or some kind of seltzer.  But nah, Illinois loves gum.  Gum and sports.
