Illinois’ Favorite Dessert: The Sweet Champion of the State

As we gear up for National Dessert Day on October 14th, we've been on the search to find the most popular sweet treats in Illinois!

Personally, I love cheesecake.  Not just one slice of cheesecake, but an entire platter.  The more variety, the better!  Am I wrong?!

Funny thing is, cheesecake and chocolate chip cookies ranked pretty darn high on Spinbet's list of 'Most Loved Sweet Treats' in the country.  Neither one made Illinois' favorite, though.

Illinois' favorite sweet treat is.... a donut! 

With an average of 22,000 searches per month (majority probably being from me, to be honest), I guess Illinoisans have a strong sweet tooth and great taste!

Cheesecake followed closely behind at #2, then came tiramisu at #3.

I mean, what kind of donuts are we talkin'?  If it's apple cider donuts from Edwards Apple Orchard then I totally agree.  If it's a basic donut from a chain bakery then it's a major THUMBS DOWN for me.

On National Dessert Day, why not celebrate by sampling some of Illinois' best donuts? From local bakeries to gourmet shops, there’s no shortage of options to treat yourself. So grab a donut (or two!) and indulge without feeling guilty!  Let it be a cheat day!

Where are you getting your favorite donuts on Monday, October 14th?  There are so many great local shops in the Rockford area to choose from.  I might have to just make multiple stops in the Stateline to get my sweet treat fix!
