The Tradition Of Picking Out A Pumpkin For Halloween

Since I was a child and still today, I have participated in the tradition of picking out a pumpkin for Halloween. I look forward to it every year. My preference is going to an actual pumpkin patch or farm to make my selection for the season. I have learned a few things about pumpkin shopping along the way.

Tips For Choosing Your Pumpkin

I do have a couple of tips for choosing the right pumpkin. First, be careful with the size. Remember, the bigger the pumpkin the more pumpkin guts. That can get messy. Do not get it too early. Otherwise, it might not make it to Halloween. The same goes for carving it. Once you make it into a jack-o-lantern, the clock is running before it turns rotten.

When it comes to pumpkin shopping, I like to have choices. You are not going to get that from a grocery store. That is why a trip to a pumpkin farm is key. If you go early enough, there should be literally hundreds with all shapes to styles on display. Well, what if I told you there is a place in Illinois with over 25,000 pumpkins onsite and ready to be purchased.
