This guy lost his thumb in a freak work accident with a circular saw. The cut also left his little finger dangling.

While trimming some wood, Melo Hairapetian's knees buckled causing a freakish fall and horrific encounter with the saw. The severe cut went straight across his palm removing his thumb and leaving his little finger dangling.

The thumb is responsible for 40% of your hand's work, so living without one can make things very difficult. It didn't take Melo long to agree to the 16-hour surgery once he found out that he could have his big toe removed and transferred to his hand.

My favorite part of the video below is when the reporter says "the toe looks pretty natural as a thumb." Words I bet, in her career, she never thought she'd say.
