Something about this marathon finish smells fishy...

Tyler Pence crossed the finish line in 2 hours, 15 minutes winning the "Quad Cities Marathon." Hey congrats, Tyler...You are the first U.S. runner to win that race since 2001, how'd you do it? This is where things get tricky. APNEWS

Elijah Mwangangi Saolo and Luke Kibet from Kenya, about half way to the finish line...went the wrong way. How does that happen?

Nick Cooper - TSM Duluth

It turned out that the bicycle rider leading them, took a wrong turn and led them down a different path.

“At that intersection where that incident happened, the course was well-marked, the signage is well-displayed. The volunteers are there. And the fourth element is those elite runners have a meeting the day before to get familiar with the course.” - Race director Joe Moren

So even though the racers followed the bicycle rider that LEADS the runners, it's the runner's fault for following them? Sounds legit.

The winner, Tyler Pence, received $3000 for his winning two hour and 15 minutes winning time. Even though the two Kenya runners went the wrong way and "it was their fault" the race director said he would find a way to compensate the runners. Again, odd.

Well, congrats to the Quad Cities Marathon winner, Tyler Pence. You're $3000 richer and went the wrong way to beat two guys from Kenya. Shady.
