Yeah, you heard me. If you do this before you get dressed in the morning, I hate to break it to you—you're definitely from Illinois.
Born in raised in Rockford, Illinois has truly made me a certain kind of person. I have more winter apparel in my closet than summer clothes, use all the Midwest slang, and know to wait half a second before accelerating when the light turns green at an intersection. We're built different here.

We also know that living in an all-seasons state that weather is very, very, very unpredictable. If it says 75 degrees and sunny, I'm going to assume it's 50 degrees and wear long sleeve just to be safe.
Now, the older I've gotten I started doing this one thing that has become routine in not only my life, but a lot of my friends' lives, too.

Do you check your Weather App every morning before getting dressed? I DO.
I'M SO GUILTY OF IT. I was embarrassed about it at first, but then I realized I'm adulting. I'm preparing for the weather. I finally started dressing appropriately.
I think I open my Weather App more than I text or scroll social media, and that says a lot. Being chronically online and doom-scrolling on the daily, you'd expect me to be on the internet more. The Weather App has made it on the front page of my phone's main home screen and it has its own widget. If that doesn't scream, "Midwesterner" then I don't know what does.

If you live in Illinois, you know darn well you don't dress for fashion; you dress for the weather. Always. It's just how we are.
Check the Weather App. Grab a light jacket just in case. Regret nothing.
