Looking to get your scares on at a place that isn't exactly considered one of the most well-known haunted spots in Illinois?

I mean when it comes to haunted theaters I tend to think of the music hall in my own backyard before I consider this place.

Maybe it's just location bias but if we're talking about historically scary theaters, you should probably think about the Coronado Theater in Rockford.

However, Travel Alot had a different theater in mind when they shared the 13 Most Haunted Places in the United States.

They say the Lincoln Square Theater is one of the most haunted places in America and they make a very compelling case as to why too.

Travel Alot:

At 100 years old, it should come as no surprise that the Lincoln Square Theater has some skeletons in its closet...metaphorically speaking. 'One-Armed Red' allegedly fell from the metal grid above the stage, his arm becoming stuck in a girder. His ghost now frequently haunts the stage area. For an even spookier experience, buy tickets to the horror films shown on Friday Horror Nights.

Good to see the theater leaning into its haunted past by showing scary movies. Now that's one way to capitalize on paranormal activity. Hey, I wonder if they've ever shown that flick?

Looks like the theater has undergone some major renovations in the past few years.

Anyway, the Lincoln Square Theater is located at 127 North Main Street in Decatur.

So go check it out for yourself. See if there are any ghosts, and report back. I'll be here, safely avoiding any run-ins with "One-Armed Red."
