Illinois’ ‘Most Scenic Drive’ Is The Perfect Fall Weekend Cruise
Fall is the perfect season for road trips, especially when you consider Illinois' "most scenic drive" is also considered the "world's most beautiful drive."
The "most beautiful" line came from President Theodore Roosevelt. The "most scenic" is from Thrillist, and they're both talking about Grandview Drive.
Grandview Drive will not take you a very long time to complete, because Grandview Drive is only 2.52 miles. With a view of the Illinois River and the surrounding valley, much of it unspoilt except for picnic benches and a sidewalk, the route is as stunning on foot as it is by car.
It's about a two and a half-hour drive from Rockford, so it could be considered a bit of a haul, but seriously, when you think about the accolades this tiny stretch of land has received, it might be worth making the trek.
There's also s a brewery nearby. Consider it a bonus for anyone who needs refreshment after a long drive.
