As crazy as this sounds, cookie demand in 2020 is higher than it ever has been before.

My guess, it's probably from all the sitting around we've been doing in 2020.

No matter how active you think you are there's a very good chance you've spent more time this year sitting around eating junk food.

Not there's anything wrong with it. I love a good cookie or chip or popcorn or pizza. Now I'm hungry. When's lunch?

Anyway, TopAgency.com put together a report that reveals cookie consumption has gone up 36% during the pandemic. In 2020, it looks like Santa might not be the only one eating cookies going into Christmas Day.

Cookie demand in the US is at 25% during the pandemic, and 95% of Americans eat at least one cookie a month according to the study.

However, a closer look shows Illinois (and Wisconsin) didn't rank in the top 5 of any of the "Favorite American Cookie" lists. The cookies surveyed were Chocolate Chip, Snickerdoodle, Sugar, Oatmeal Raisin, Shortbread, Butter, Peanut Butter, Wafers, and Biscotti Cookies.

While trying to decipher which cookie might be my favorite, I had a hard time deciding. Not because I like so many I was faced with a tough choice, but more like, a "Meh, I guess I'd take any of them if offered."

My apathetic approach toward my fave cookie may have something to do with why the rest of the state ranked so low overall. Is it because everyone in Illinois shares my feelings toward cookies? Illinois ranked in the bottom half of the country (26th) when it comes to our love of the cookie, so maybe?

Maybe you've got a different feeling about cookies. What's your favorite? Tell us!
