You Can Take a Pledge to Help Protect Monarch Butterflies in IL.

I have this rule I follow in life - always say hello to butterflies.

I can't remember who told me this, or why it was so important. But it's something I've always done. So imagining a life with less butterflies makes me so sad, but we can make sure that doesn't happen.

Here's something that will blow your mind. According to IllinoisMonarchProject -

It takes 2 or 3 generations of butterflies to migrate from the mountains of Michoacán, Mexico, to the prairies of Illinois in the spring months. By late summer, a ‘super generation’ emerges, equipped to travel an estimated 2,500 miles back to Mexico for overwintering.

News to me! So why is it important that Illinois commit to protecting these butterflies? Well, Illinois offers these butterflies the crucial milkweed resources they need for breeding, along with the nectar plants they rely on to have successful migration.

Look, our world is filled with a lot of bad and ugly right now. So why not make a small commitment to something that brings a lot of light and joy to Illinois? It's super easy and incredibly important.
