Illinois Shelter Puppy Is Ready for Love (And Unlimited Treats)

One of my favorite things to do is scroll through profiles of all the adorable pups ready for adoption at local animal shelters. Some people check social media for memes or videos, meanwhile I'm checking to see who learned how to sit, who discovered toys for the first time, and which dog is absolutely convinced they deserve a treat just for existing. That's exactly how I found Shawn.

During his training session with Noah's Ark Animal Sanctuary, Shawn proudly mastered "sit" and is currently working on "lie down." He's clearly a smart lil' guy and also very opinionated! If he had a Yelp account, he'd probably leave a two-star review because, in his mind, lying down should come with endless treats. Honestly? FAIR!

He deserves all the treats and love.

Shawn is about 6 months old and has that sweet, gentle energy you notice right away. He's described as docile, affectionate, and submissive, the kind of dog who wants to be close to you, get all the attention, and remind you that pets are mandatory.

He was found outside with his two littermates, who have already been adopted, and now Shawn is patiently waiting his turn! That part always gets me. There's something about a dog still waiting, still hopeful, that sticks with you.

Noah's Ark believes he may be a mix of Heeler, Mountain Cur, and Lab, which basically means you're getting a curious, loving pup with a lot of potential. He loves toys, loves learning, and is highly treat-motivated... which makes training way more fun. He will need continued training and socialization, plus needs to meet any dogs already in the home before adoption!

Profiles like Shawn's are exactly why I love checking in on local shelters. Every post makes me tear up when I read their stories, ugh. Someone adopt this precious boy!
