Fascinating Photos Of Inside An Old Illinois Power Plant

First of all, under no circumstances should you enter any property like this, especially if there is a "no trespassing" sign. By doing so you risk bodily harm and/or prosecution for trespassing on private property.

This is the Crawford Generating Station, which has an unfortunate history that began in 2019. The plant was decommissioned in 2012 and was to be demolished in 2019, which is when bad things started happening.

A Series Of Unfortunate Events

In 2019, while the facility was being prepped for tear-down a worker from the demolition company tragically fell to his death. Less than 4 months later the smokestack was imploded causing toxic dust to settle in a nearby neighborhood. As of 2021, the power plant was still standing.
