We all know the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City is the GOAT Thanksgiving Parade, but the Travel Channel says that Chicago's parade isn't too far behind...Here is what they have to say.
According to the Travel Channel, Chicago's Thanksgiving Day Parade is the second best in the country behind only Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City. Chicago's parade ranks ahead of America's Hometown Thanksgiving Day Parade in Plymouth, Massachusetts, America's Thanksgiving Parade in Detroit, and the Annual H-E-B Parade in Houston. Why does Chicago's parade belong in the second spot ahead of the others? The Travel Channel says...
"The McDonald's Thanksgiving Parade in Chicago marches down State Street from Congress to Randolph beginning at 8 a.m. with the crew, including elephants from Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey leading the way. You can expect to see plenty of familiar faces on the ground and hovering high above the crowds with floats and helium balloons depicting children's favorite characters including Cookie Monster, Big Bird, Kermit and Ronald McDonald himself walking the route with dozens of other clowns in his wake..."

I have been to the Chicago Thanksgiving Day Parade many times and love it! It deserves to be in the #2 spot on this list, the only bummer about the parade in Chicago is that the parade goes under the L train tracks in the Loop of the downtown which means there aren't as many giant balloons as the Macy's parade in NYC. But it is a ton of fun, and I would highly recommend taking the kids to it!
