Safest Town in Illinois for 2025 a Hidden Gem with European Charm

There's a case to be made that to determine how safe a place is, find out how much money that place spends to fight crime. By that measure, the safest town in Illinois for 2025 has been described as a hidden gem with almost a European charm.

I saw this new ranking from Money Geek. They named the safest cities and towns for each state in America based on their per capita cost of fighting crime. For Illinois, the top place is Northbrook, Illinois.

The Lovely Wayfarer YouTube channel described Northbrook, Illinois as "a hidden gem that exudes the charm of a European small town while being just a stone's throw away from the bustling city of Chicago".

I decided to dig deeper to see what the crime rates are like in Northbrook and what residents say and the results on Niche are impressive. 65% say they feel very safe while the other 35% say pretty safe and both crowds mention a solid police presence that makes them feel more comfortable there. 83% say the police are very visible and responsive. Northbrook, Illinois gets a B+ rating for crime overall which is spectacular for being that close to Chicago.
