I've never really thought about getting attacked by a wild animal before. I should probably pay more attention next time I go hang out in the woods. There are plenty of animals out there that are capable of it. In Illinois, we have wolves, coyotes, and foxes to just name a few. A bird that never crossed my mind for being dangerous is the owl. Whenever I've seen them in a zoo, they are usually pretty mellow.

A La Grange Park man who went running early Tuesday evening in the DuPage County forest preserve near Graue Mill said he was attacked by an owl.
The owl grabbed and scratched the back of his head.
How Did This Illinois Man Get Attacked By An Owl?
The victim was out jogging in an Illinois Forest Preserve. All of a sudden, he felt something hurting the back of his head. His first thought was that it could be a squirrel. Then he saw a bird and thought it was a hawk. He tried to run away but the owl followed him. In fact, the bird attacked the man three times.

Do Owl Attacks Happen Ofter In Illinois?
The answer is now. They are very rare. Basically, only when provoked. It usually only happens when the owl is guarding their nest.
