Shogun or JMK Nippon?

The truth is, there is no wrong answer, and we made sure to get out there and say that because you can't go wrong at either restaurant.

As far as I can remember, JMK Nippon, 2551 North Perryville Road, has been a Rockford eating institution.

People come for the sushi, the hibachi, and, of course, the karaoke.

Over the years, we have been lucky to have Shogun, 293 Executive Parkway, come on the scene and serve Japanese cuisine as delicious as JMK Nippon.

However, what would it be if you had to pick only one restaurant?

So we asked that very question on Facebook:

Honestly, the results surprised me.

I don't mean the "Some folks who said Marc's Fusion, Neither, Panda Express, or Golden Chopsticks" kind of surprise.

I mean, after tabulating the votes, I saw that Shogun garnered just short of 70%.

Shogun had the most votes in what I thought would be more of a 50/50 split.

Head to head, Shogun is rated a 3.8 on Yelp, with JMK slightly behind at 3.4.

A recent review from Roan S. on Yelp mentioned that Shogun is "great" and the servers were "friendly and funny."

Angie W. on Yelp reviewed JMK and said they had a "good selection" of food, and the restaurant is "beautiful. Very large," and they were a "bit surprised."

I'll take both; it just depends on what part of town I'm in at the time.
