Another business in the Rockford area is going away and this one is extra sad, given the details that were just released.

Nothing Good Lasts Forever

You hear that statement a lot, do you think it's meant to evoke a feeling of sadness when people say it? The statement used to make me feel disappointed because I'd hear it said about a place I never checked out and now someone is telling me it's gone. Memories of that "nothing good lasts forever" disappointment now fuel me to make sure I check out places people are talking about as soon as possible. I sure am glad I won't ever feel disappointment over having never sipped, dined, and relaxed at this beautiful winery.

McEachran Homestead Winery in Caledonia is Closing

There was always a very special feeling that would fill me up when I would visit. This farm and winery have a heart that you could feel almost immediately. If you were lucky enough to be there at the right time, you could catch a moment with the 'heart' of McEachran Winery, Dr. Greenlee.

The truth is that NOTHING lasts forever, so be sure to enjoy it while it's here. Thank you McEachran Homestead Winery for your heart, your grapes, your scenery, your cheeseboards, and your slushies, those are the 5 things that I will miss most.

Thank you, Dr. Greenlee, for realizing a dream that delighted so many, including me.

It's the wine slushies I'll miss most.

Below is a portion of the winery's closing announcement that was made via Facebook.

This is a special message from Dr. Greenlee's four adult children:

As most of you know, our dad passed away in December 2020, and we inherited the McEachran Homestead Winery. For 18 months, we tried to honor our dad's legacy and dream.

We have made a tough decision. Due to both the external factors of simply living and doing business today and the internal factors of our four families' priorities forcing us to make tough choices, we are going to close all McEachran Homestead Winery operations no later than November 26, 2022 (the Saturday after Thanksgiving).

Below is the full Facebook closing announcement.
