Mila Kunis Says She + Husband Ashton Kutcher Were a Fling-Gone-Wrong
Now married with Baby No. 2 on the way, Mila Kunis admits she and husband Ashton Kutcher were never supposed to be more than a short fling.
In an interview with Howard Stern, Kunis recalled the early days of her relationship with her former That '70s Show co-star — namely, that it was supposed to be a temporary thing. He'd just emerged from a divorce, she'd just ended a long term relationship and both parties agreed that keeping it was breezy was best (if you saw her Friends With Benefits or his No Strings Attached, you get the idea).
It all started when Kunis saw Kutcher at an awards show for the first time in awhile. They'd kept in touch for years via online chat, but seeing him in person again incited feelings she never knew she had.
"I see this guy and I see his back and he's really tall," she said. "Then he just turns around and it was literally like if we were in a movie, the music would start playing and the violins would go. I think for the first time ever he took my breath away. I was like 'f---, he's good-looking. I don't know if I could all of a sudden just see well.'"
So, after reconnecting, Kutcher invited Kunis to his place for a housewarming party. He originally planned to set her up with a friend, but the pair couldn't deny their chemistry, and, as Kunis put it "Long story short, I didn't leave until the next morning."
The couple agreed to keep things light, but after a few months of dating they'd fallen in deep. Kunis laments the fact that neither she nor Kutcher was able to see through the flaws in their original plan, which had been plainly demonstrated through the two movies they'd filmed.
"We were both in agreement like 'This is just fun.' Shook hands on it," she said. "If we had just paid attention to [No Strings Attached or Friends With Benefits], we should have known s--- like this does not work out in real life."
Fun gave way to real romance, and by July 2015, they were married.
"I think we had to go through a lot in our lives to become the people that we were," Kunis said. "We would never be together based on the people that we used to be."
