Rockford is inching closer to having its very own city flag.

Depending on who you ask, Rockford has never had a city flag or they have never seen it.

While the Rockford "corporate logo" flag might be considered the town flag, it's not.

Either way, there has been a push in recent months to roll out a new (or first) Rockford city flag.

So on Flag Day, June 14, Rockford Mayor Tom McNamara is believed to be in attendance to unveil the three finalists for the new flag. The press conference will happen in the lobby of Rockford City Hall at 10 a.m.

According to the press release, there have been "over 150 design submissions" and after the three finalists are announced, we'll be allowed to choose which one we like best "via text message, online or in person at to-be-determined locations."

The winning flag design will be announced on August 15, 2018. In case you're wondering, that would be 8-1-5 Day.

The Rockford city flag campaign continues to look for donors. If you'd like to donate, check out their Go Fund Me page.
