No Spring or Summer, or any season for that matter, is complete without a trip to Galena. Next trip, make it an overnight in this cool Airbnb.

The incredibly cool Owl House, just off Main Street in downtown Galena, Illinois, is a perfect place to book for my favorite kind of Galena getaway. When the shopping turns into a wine tasting, then into dinner and more wine, you need to stay right where you are. Just a short walking distance off the 'main drag' is a 1,200-square-foot, one-bedroom hideaway that sleeps four.

Built around 1880, this former carriage house-turned-warehouse-turned-home is equal parts slick design and antique eccentricity, says Thrillist.com, and I completely agree. Just over 100 years from when it was built, it was turned into the charming little rental it is now.

I would love to bring my new wine purchases back to this kitchen and right to cooking up something with some ingredients purchased during the day's shopping trip. Sipping wine underneath an Edison-bulb-lit room. Moving the party downstairs to listen to music in the the underground den with limestone walls. The hosts even equipped this room with a turntable and some speakers.

Wait until you see the private outdoor area just off the bedroom.
