If you're looking for the best burgers in America, you won't have to stray too far from Rockford to find one.

That is if you believe the recent report from MSN titled "Where to Find the Best Burgers in America."

They said Au Cheval with a location in Chicago, 800 West Randolph, and New York City has one of the best burgers in the US.

Au Cheval's burger is the kind of legendary food experience that lives up to the hype. It's certainly not the cheapest option on this list, but you get what you pay for, and then some.

A word of warning though, if you go to Au Cheval in Chicago, be prepared to wait. Like, forever.

Yelp user Jeremy M:

We waited two hours for 4 people on a Tuesday night around 9:30pm. What's nice about this place is that the wait times have decreased over the years, but the quality has stood the test of time.

When something is as widely praised as Au Cheval is, there's bound to be some hate too.

Do not buy into the hype. I repeat: do not buy into the hype. Au Cheval serves up better than average burgers, but by no means is it worth it to wait even remotely close to three hours, which is the time our group of 7 was quoted. We tried again the next day and got in after 1.5 hours, but even then it was too long of a wait. Honestly, I'd wait for 1 hour; anything more than 1 hour is not worth the wait (unless you have time to kill).

If you can stomach the wait and the hype, MSN says you should "order a double cheeseburger, and it actually comes with three thin beef patties, a fried egg and thick-cut peppery bacon on a toasted bun."

That sounds well worth the wait and hype. Guess we're going to Au Cheval this weekend.
