Only One Illinois Restaurant Named Among America’s Most Romantic Spots
Illinois has millions of people and thousands of restaurants, and you're telling me only one of them is considered among the most romantic?
That's insane, preposterous, but then again, totally feasible.
That might be because I guess I wouldn't know what would consist of a "romantic restaurant" if hit me square in the face, er I guess in the heart, the romantic part of the heart.
Anyway, what makes a restaurant romantic? Is it the setting, the lighting, the collection of fine wines, the music, clientele, or a combination of all those mentioned?
OpenTable, one of the top online reservation websites, put together their annual 100 Most Romantic Restaurants in America list and there's only one place in the entire Land of Lincoln that got some love.
Regarding the list, OpenTable says they rank "the most intimate culinary destinations based on diner reviews, and a Valentine's Day Experiences hub where diners can discover and book tasting menus, dessert-making workshops, cooking classes, wine pairings and more."
Even more surprising than Illinois' one and only entrant on the list is the restaurant isn't in Chicago.
Meson Sabika is located in Naperville and OpenTable says it's the place for lovers.
If you already celebrated Valentine's Day a couple of days ago, I have a feeling Meson Sabika is one of our top options in Illinois for a romantic meal year-round.
With over 1,100 reviews on Yelp, Meson Sabika rates a 4 out of 5 with Yelper L M. saying "Romantic and relaxed, great vibe there. We can't wait to go back!" Jodi L. adds "The outdoor seating is so romantic and quaint and it's the perfect place for a date or an anniversary."
Vib M. has a different take though "The service here was very slow. Our server only came a few times and we had to keep asking other servers for water or extra napkins."
No mention of "romance" either from Vib M. Maybe you should try it for yourself.
Meson Sabika is located at 1025 Aurora Avenue in Naperville.
