
Open Letter to Rockford Cashier at Goodwill Who Made My Day
I'll admit it—I thrift pretty much every day in Rockford. So much that employees have started becoming familiar faces to me.
I guess I've probably become a familiar face to some of them, too—not sure if that's a good or bad thing haha.

Last weekend, I came down with a bad case of Covid and had to quarantine for an entire week until I tested negative. I stayed home, slept, and didn't go anywhere past my front doorstep. Not being able to thrift made me so sad!

Once I recovered, I got my thrifting fix again at the East State Street Goodwill in Rockford. As I was checking out, the cashier looked at me and said, "Hey, haven't seen you in a while! Where have you been?!"
Like... how kind of her to ask! Kinda threw me off because I didn't expect someone to notice I had been MIA. I loved how thoughtful she was. So, this one is for her.

You don't always realize people notice the little things, they really do.
I was sick for only a few days and a stranger.. A STRANGER.. noticed I was missing from my thrifting routine. I really appreciate people like her! It might've been a simple comment, but it really made my day.

Thank you for taking time to care about your customers who walk through those double doors every day. You're the person everyone hopes to employ. You didn't have to ask how I was doing or where I've been, but you did. You radiate good energy!
It's small acts of kindness, like hers, that remind me to continue being kind to others. You never know what's going on in someone's life or why they haven't been around, but you can always check in.
