My friends and I are always looking for unique things to do around Rockford. We've done everything from dinner on the dock, visited farmer's market, beer tastings, festivals, etc. Now, we're looking to try something new!
For some reason, we decided we wanted to find open mic nights.
I had no idea there were actually open mic nights around Rockford! Whether you're someone who actually wants to get up on stage or just sit back and watch other people perform, an open mic night can be pretty fun. And you definitely don't have to be a professional musician to be part of it!

- New Mill Tap
- Neighbor's Bar & Grill
- Shattered Saloon
All of these places have open mic nights on different days, hosted by different people, too! Now, if you're more of a karaoke person, there's plenty of that to go around in the Stateline. I remember when I was in my early 20s and went to The Rue every weekend for karaoke with friends. Good ol' days!
So if you're looking for something a bit different to do with your friends, maybe it's time to put open mic night on the list. Who knows, you could be the next performer on the stage and you don't even know it!
