Rep. John Cabello helped secure nearly a million bucks for Rock Cut State Park. The money comes from Build Illinois Bond Fund and also the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. What an amazing job by John Cabello, Rock Cut State Park is one of this local spots that has always been such a treasure. Once the weather gets nice, get out there on a bike and get lost for a few hours, pretty incredible.

The grant will help out Rock Cut State Park infrastructure at the park, which will include trail rehabilitation, roads, water and sewer.

The 2020 summer season was a weird one for Rock Cut State Park. Obviously restrictions were put into place because of COVID, yet record attendance. Getting outside and enjoying the beauty of Rock Cut State Park has never meant so much. The CDC even advised people to get outside and enjoy nature, I guess people in out area agreed with that.

Rock Cut State Park has over 3000 acres, with about a 4 mile walk/run/bike around the lake. There are actually two lakes in the park, Olsen Lake (that's the Polar Plunge location) and also Pierce Lake which is around 160 acres.

Rock Cut State Park is located at 7223 West Lane Road Loves Park, IL 61111 and will reopen for a brand new, and hopefully HEALTHY season on March 31st.
