For those of us who don't have access to a swimming pool during the summer months, our options for spending a day on the water just went up.

According to WIFR, the Winnebago County Health Department says Olson Lake, at Rock Cut State Park, passed it's most recent round of E. coli testing, making it safe for swimming.

The hope is to have the beach reopened by tomorrow, the 4th of July; and the lake will continue to be tested every two weeks.

This is great news, especially after a girlfriend of mine just found out that Rock Cut offers paddled boarding and suggested we give it a try. My first question was, "is that water even safe?"  Sounds like it is now.
