Rockford Art Deli (RAD) is itching to reopen after an extraordinary effort put forth by their staff and the community.

RAD deserves some sort of honorable award for the work their entire staff has powered through during this unprecedented pandemic. Their "Here For Good" campaign was a way for Rockford and surrounding cities' locally owned businesses to make money while Illinois' stay-at-home order was in place. This mandate cost businesses tens of thousands of dollars, to say the least. In short, businesses submitted their logo to Rockford Art Deli to be printed on shirts for their customers to buy to show support and bring in money. The types of businesses ranged from restaurants and bars, contractors, medical offices, entertainment (i.e. sound/lighting), bands, charitable organizations, and many more.

Rockford Art Deli did not make a profit off this idea, the profit of the shirt was split between covering the cost to produce and the rest went to the individual business. In total, RAD received more than 6,000 orders with over 10,000 shirts during the two-month period. This was all possible because of their remarkable and dedicated staff. They spent an insane amount of time answering emails at home, working outside of normal business hours, and shedding blood sweat and tears - all while wearing masks. The act itself proves their love for our community.

The big question is when will Rockford Art Deli fulfill orders and what about reopening. It's all explained in this lengthy yet necessary Facebook post.

Thanks, RAD, for continuing to lead by example in showing true love and dedication to the 815.
