The much-awaited grand opening of Six Flags Hurricane Harbor in Rockford is May 29. The park will be introducing an exclusive new attraction.

In just a couple of weeks, we will finally get to see the beginnings of Six Flags vision for the former Magic Waters Waterpark. I've been hearing lots of talk about the many changes we will see at Hurricane Harbor right away. What is likely to steal the spotlight away from many of the cosmetic changes at the new Hurricane harbor, is the brand new waterslide they built while we were wearing our winter coats.

Tidal Wave, the first and only tailspin waterslide in the Midwest.

The Tidal Wave is the new attraction for Six Flags Hurricane Harbor's first season. The most exciting features, as one designer of these types of slides says, are the high-banking turns and the extreme Gs that thrust you into a 360-degree rotation.

"Combining the high-banking rotations of a bowl with the rapid descent of a flume, the open Tailspin gives riders a chance to see the journey that lays ahead as they’re pinned high on the outside wall as they spiral downwards."

Hurricane Harbor Rockford is located at 7820 Cherryvale N Boulevard. Single day tickets are as low as $19.99, an all-season-long pass is $59.99.
