The good news from Rockford Public Schools District 205 is that seniors will have a graduation ceremony to attend this year.

Rockford Public Schools (RPS 205) shared the graduation ceremony news late Monday (4/12) afternoon. I feel so bad for the class of 2020 and what became of their graduation ceremonies. Many schools and families made the best of the situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic but nothing can ever take the place of walking across that stage with your classmates, friends and family watching.

Making sure all COVID protocols and guidelines are being followed, the Rockford school district has found a way to preserve some of those precious memories and conduct graduation ceremonies in person.

RPS 205 says the ceremonies will be outside (with rain dates already scheduled too) with social distancing begin practiced and also requiring masks. Each graduate will be given four tickets and be allowed to sit with households and family. The district will also be allowing each school to host prom activities on June 4th.

Outdoor high school graduation ceremonies will begin on Monday, June 7 and run through Thursday, June 10. Two sites will be used for the ceremonies, Wyeth Stadium at Auburn and Swanson Stadium at Guilford.

RPS205.com has all the detailed information on each school's ceremony, including rain dates.
