
Rockford Student Named Finalist In Prestigious National Merit Scholarship Program
A Rockford student was just named a finalist for a prestigious award.
The National Merit Scholarship Program honors about 50,000 academically gifted high school students across the United States.
Boylan Catholic High School senior Ben Thomas was just named a National Merit Finalist by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
Thomas is one of 15,000 students named a finalist. Of the finalists, college scholarships are awarded to 7,600 students.
He is involved in the National Honor Society, student council, captain of his club lacrosse team, and a Bishop Lane Scholar, awarded to Boylan students who scored in the 95th percentile or better on the high school placement exam.
Scholarshipgist.com says "National Merit Scholarship winners of 2020 will be announced in four nationwide news releases beginning in April and concluding in July."
