Congrats to Thurgood Marshall 7th grade student Kodai Speich.

Speich is headed to Washington D.C. to compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee.

He won the 33rd Boone-Winnebago Regional Spelling Bee for the second time, and according to the Rockford Register Star, "Speich is the first student in recent decades to win the regional competition twice, bee officials said."

Speich won the three hour, 42 round competition spelling 'brigadier' correctly.

You can cheer on Speich and the rest of the students involved when the 2016 Scripps National Spelling Bee kicks off May 25-26 in Washington D.C..
