‘She’s A Star!': Rockford Teacher Has Clever Classroom Hack Her Students Love
We're celebrating a brand new Teacher of the Week from McIntosh Elementary in Rockford!
When you hear that a teacher goes above and beyond for her students, you might picture someone staying late or helping with homework.
Sometimes, it looks a little more like this: Ms. Allen walking around her classroom wearing a headset microphone channeling her inner pop star. Her students love it!
Ms. Allen looked like a pop star all mic'd up when we surprised her in her classroom as our brand new Teacher of the Week! Why strain your voice when you can just use a microphone, right?
Congratulations to Recha Allen - 97ZOK's Teacher of the Week!

She was nominated by Katelynn James. This is the letter she sent us:
I would like to nominate Mrs. Allen for Teacher of the Week because she truly goes above and beyond for every student and their family. She doesn’t just teach—she genuinely cares about the people behind each child.

Mrs. Allen consistently checks in on the well-being of her students and their families, offering kindness, encouragement, and support whenever it’s needed. She takes the time to reach out, listen, and make everyone feel valued and cared for. Her compassion creates a classroom where children feel safe, loved, and excited to learn.
The positive impact she has extends far beyond academics. She reminds families that they are not alone and that someone truly cares. Teachers like Mrs. Allen are rare, and our community is incredibly blessed to have her. She is more than deserving of being recognized as Teacher of the Week.
We surprised her with some well-deserved gifts from Nothing Bundt Cakes, WM DaySpa Salon, and Benassi Family Dentistry!
