August 15th falls on a Sunday this year, so the City of Rockford thought, hey this sounds like a great excuse to have a weekend-long celebration, and I'm super glad they did!

If you've never participated in an 815 Day, (a.k.a. Rockford Day), celebration in the past, you need to this year! Not only is it a great way to show some hometown pride, but it's a GREAT way to celebrate locally owned businesses in the 815, and heck, you can save some cash while you're at it. (and everyone likes doing that!)

A massive list of Rockford businesses have already stepped up with 815 Day/Weekend specials, and the list will no doubt grow in the days ahead. Some of the participating businesses are:

  • B Jones Boutique
  • Baker Street Burgers
  • Bath and Body Fusion
  • Bygone Brand
  • Cookies By Design
  • Crimson Ridge
  • Midway Village Museum
  • Mary's By Design
  • Roxy Carmichael
  • YMCA of Rock River Valley
  • PORCH
  • The Canine Crunchery...and many more!

Everyone knows that Rockford Art Deli always offers a special 815 Day Live Print event, but this year they are bringing the party...literally. On Saturday, August 14, 2021, Rockford Art Deli is hosting a street party from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. featuring food and drink vendors, a tattoo artist, free gifts for the first 50 people, and of course, their sweet-lookin' 2021 815 Day design...

Rockford Art Deli's Street Party isn't the only thing happening 815 Day weekend, the festivities will kick off Friday, August 13 with a special Rockford City Market where the first 200 people who purchase a beverage get a free coozie, and the fun continues from there. Some other events lined up for 815 Day weekend include:

  • Shop the Mile Scavenger Hunt
  • Rockford Day Blood Drive
  • Life Decisions Community Block Party at Dahlquist Park
  • A food truck event at Culture Shock
  • 'Release the Quackin' Party' at Prairie Street Brewing Company (Check out this video from our friend Jake at Rockford Buzz LOL...)

One last thing, Rockford isn't the only city joining the 815 Day fun. I happen to know a store in Belvidere called Unique Boutique, featuring local artisans from all over the Stateline area, has a special 815 Day sale ready to roll, so you better check them out too!

Do you know of another locally owned business somewhere in the 815 or 779 that is offering special 815 Day deals? (I'm looking at you Machesney Park, Loves Park, Rockton, and Roscoe). Let us know so we can add them to our list!
