Rockford’s Signature Candle: What Would the City Smell Like?

Let’s face it—depending on where you live in Rockford, it can get pretty stinky around here.

The mix of the Rock River, farmland close by, and some of the less-than-pleasant odors that pop up around town sometimes make you wonder what a Rockford signature candle would smell like.  Good or bad?

To get a better idea, we took it to Facebook to see what people thought. Some comments were, well, a little on the "stereotypical" side, suggesting "gunpowder and violence", but others had some great responses.

If Rockford had a signature candle, I'd say it'd be a mix of the gum factory, grease from all the fast-food restaurants, and patchouli (considering we're a cannabis-friendly state!).

And let’s not forget the sweeter side of Rockford—our local bakeries, ice cream spots, and the general sweetness of a town that knows how to satisfy a sweet tooth.  A touch of vanilla, sugar cookies, or cinnamon would tie everything together.
