Morel Mushroom

"I HATE mushrooms!" Is that you? It's absolutely me. I cannot stand eating mushrooms. That is not the case when it comes to morel mushrooms.

It took a bit but with the rain and despite the not so warm weather we've received over the past couple of weeks, it seems morels have finally arrived.

If you've been itching to go for a walk, while the entire state is under a shelter-in-place order, now might be the time.

There have been zero signs of Morel mushrooms in Northern Illinois so far this spring, but it looks like things are going to change as soon as this week.

Kelly Young's morel find will be supplying his butter-filled frying pan for a very long time. The huge fungus was by railroad tracks south of Walnut, Iowa.
