A Rockford First-Year Teacher Is Already Changing Lives at West View Elementary

Congratulations to our brand new Teacher of the Week, Franchesca Schiro from West View Elementary School.

Ms. Schiro is in her 1st year of teaching. Ms. Schiro was a student teacher at Westview last year and was hired on full-time this year. Ms. Schiro spent significant amount of hours and days this past summer working hard on getting her room all set for her students. Ms. Schiro made "get to know me" sheets for all of the students - asked parents/caregivers to complete "get to know me" about all of her students, and made her classroom as welcoming as she could.

Ms. Schiro is a "go-getter" and so excited to be in her role. Students Ms. Schiro met last year were so excited to learn that she would be their teacher this year. Ms. Schiro comes to school early, stays late, and is dedicated to her students. Ms. Schiro is someone who does what she does because she cares, not for the recognition, which is all the reason more to have her be celebrated.
