Fall is now here and that means Thanksgiving is nearly a hop, skip and a jump away.

We all know that the holiday season will be quite different this year due to COVID-19, and many of us are already trying to figure out how we will celebrate it with a lot of our usual traditions off the table in 2020.

Unfortunately, many Rockford-area families will have a new worry to figure out this year; how to put food on their holiday table.

Many people are out of jobs and in need of help for the first time in their lives, and I want all of them to know help is available from the Rock River Valley Food Pantry.

Family Thanksgiving Registration through the Rock River Valley Pantry will take place on Thursday, October 29 and Friday, October 30 at their offices located at 421 S Rockton Ave. To register for Thanksgiving meal assistance you will need to provide a photo ID and proof of every family member living at your address. This proof includes current school records, medical cards, utility bills or leases.

There are a couple things you need to be aware of before you register; these food boxes are available for families only (not individuals), and they only have enough for 500 families. If you need this assistance you better make sure to arrive at the RRVP offices at 8 a.m. on Thursday, October 29 to insure your spot.
