The Average Kid Gets Way More Allowance Than You’d Expect

The average kid in America makes $35 a week from their parents. I feel like that's a lot of money! Granted I haven't had an allowance in what feels like a million years, and I actually am not sure when I ever got an allowance, this seems like a lot.

In fact, kids got an $8 raise from last year, when they were making an average $27 per week.

According to the American Express survey, while the average amount of allowance is going up, the average amount of parents who actually give their kids allowance is going down, 79% of parents now give allowance.
