The Byron Dragway is For Sale
After being owned for decades by Ron Leek, and later by B.J. Vangsness, the Byron Dragway, is seeking new ownership.
According to a report from Speed Sport , the Byron Dragway, in Byron made this announcement on Friday.
The quarter mile race track first opened in July 4, 1964. Byron Dragway is a 200 acre facility that is sanctioned by the NHRA. The drag strip hosts events from April - November including popular events like the Meltdown Drags and Hot Rod Drag Week, among many others.
A press release issued from the Byron Dragway, in part, states:
Officials at Byron Dragway announced today that the popular racing venue is seeking new ownership.This is an exciting opportunity to take an established motorsports venue into the future. Byron Dragway is fortunate to have been under stable and consistent ownership for decades, allowing the venue to not only establish but truly develop many successful events and racing programs. Ron Leek owned a large potion of the Byron Dragway until his shares were bought out in 2011 by BJ Vangsness. If you have deep pockets and love drag racing, you might want to make the investment. At this time, there is no word on the selling price or if a potential buyer has been located.
